Standardized and simplified model of the average human eye used for the production of standard lenses.
B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive is the next evolution in our B.I.G. VISION® lens portfolio
With B.I.G. VISION®, Rodenstock developed a biometric eye model that allowed us to produce millions of biometric lenses. These lenses are adapted to the individual biometry of your eyes through precise measurements from our DNEye® Scanner.
Now, we're taking biometric individualization even further: We discovered that each person has a unique visual sensitivity. We can use this knowledge to tailor lenses specifically for a person’s visual sensitivity – introducing our newest product B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive.
Only 17% of lenses fit the spectacle wearers’ individual visual sensitivity.*
With the current technology available only 17 % of spectacle wearers have lenses that match their personal visual sensitivity. But adapting to new lenses can be challenging and optimising the lens design according to each person’s visual sensitivity can provide the brain with the right information needed for ideal perception.
B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive: Spectacle lenses that help the brain see more of the world
The key to understanding the breakthrough technology behind B.I.G. lenses starts with recognizing that you don’t actually see with your eyes – you see with your brain.

Our vision consists of focus and peripheral vision
Our vision relies on two subsystems—focus vision and peripheral vision—which work together with the brain. Peripheral vision helps us navigate our surroundings and detect motion. When the brain picks up on a point of interest, our focus vision moves there to give the brain more detailed visual information, which then determines the next action.

Our eyes move up to 250,000 times a day
The continuous movement of the eyes requires that the lenses provide the right support to the wearer to have a harmonious interplay of focus and peripheral vision. This constant dynamic state of our vision underscores the importance of choosing lenses that address visual sensitivity and provide the right support for your brain.

B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive
The Visual Sensitivity Index
To take the next step, our researchers leveraged our industry-leading dataset and applied advanced data science as well as AI to develop a way to determine individual visual sensitivity. The Visual Sensitivity Index was developed to illustrate individual visual sensitivity.
B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive
Your visual sensitivity is just as unique as your eyes
Visual sensitivity describes how strongly a person reacts to distortions in their vision and can be shown on the visual sensitivity index we have developed. This index is taken into account when manufacturing the lens that is optimally matched to the biometry and the visual sensitivity of the individual.
High vs low visual sensitivity
This woman with lower visual sensitivity doesn’t or hardly perceives small changes in vision quality. Lenses optimised for her low visual sensitivity have more evenly distributed aberration fields and softer transition zones, which provide her with a more seamless vision flow.
For this woman with high visual sensitivity, even slight changes in vision quality can be disrupting. Lenses optimised for high visual sensitivity feature smaller, more concentrated aberration fields, which reduce the potential for vision disruptions.

The benefits of B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive lenses in numbers
Spectacle wearers in our wearer trials and an eye tracking study strongly preferred the new lenses and experienced notable improvements across several performance metrics. 79% of the participants in an internal wearer trial preferred B.I.G. EXACT® Sensitive lenses.*** In an external wearer trial 83% of the participants preferred the new design that considers their sensitivity.***
In the external wearer trial, there were also found the following results. On average the study participants tested, experienced an improvement in:
